Description

Properties:
Basil (basilicum) takes its name from the Greek word for king, possibly as a result of its undying popularity as a plant, an ingredient and as an aromatherapy oil. Basil is widely recognised for it’s sweet, fragrant flavour and matching aroma. Basil aromatherapy oil however has a fragrance closer to that of thyme. The essential oil is extracted through the process of steam distillation using the leaves and flowering tops.

Main Uses:
The benefits of basil are wide and varied, in skin care preparations, thought to clear pores, reduce breakouts of acne and to soothe insect bites. In aromatherapy and massage, basil oil is known to ease aches and pains, headaches and head colds.

Blends well with
Bergamot, black pepper, fennel, ginger, cedarwood, geranium, grapefruit, lavender, lemon, marjoram and neroli

Ingredient:
100% Basil Oil

INCI: Ocimum basilicum

Main constituents are: a-pinene, b-pinene, camphene, myrcene, liminene, camphor, linalool, methyl chavicol, citonellol, geraniol, methyl cinnamate, and eugenol ​

Indications:
Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
Note: For external use only. Do not ingest.
Should not be used during pregnancy. As with any essential oil Basil should be used with caution, for massage always blend with a carrier or base oil, seek advice from a qualified professional regarding dilution rates and blends. Carry out a patch test in a discreet area 48 hours prior to use and discontinue use if irritation occurs. Basil essential oil is not recommended for use by persons with sensitive or broken skin.​ ​
