Properties:
Benzoin is a resinoid prepared from the crude benzoin extracted directly from the tree. Benzoin resin is formed when the trunk is cut: the tree exudes a resin which hardens on exposure to sunlight and air. The tree is located in Sumatra, Thailand and Java. The essential oil is extracted from the resin usually taken from a tree when at the age of seven and upwards and is solvent extracted.
Benzoin has been used medicinally for thousands of years, early uses included warding off evil spirits and as an antiseptic. The oil is clear to pale yellow liquid, with a mild characteristic odour

Main Uses:
In aromatherapy Benzoin is warming and uplifting, believed to create a kind of euphoria, to relieve nervous tension and stress.

In skin and body care, Benzoin is popularly used to treat and has been known to help soothe irritated skin. Because of its considered healing properties it is known to increase elasticity of the skin in creams, lotions and balms, also to reduce redness or irritation.

Blends well with
Coriander, Bergamot, Lemon, Myrrh, Orange, Petitgrain, sandalwood and Rose

Ingredient:
INCI: Styrax benzoin Resin Extract, Dipropylene Glycol

Main constituents are: Benzoic acid, cinnamic acid, benyl benzoate, vanillin, benzoic aldehyde and coniferyl benzoate ​

Indications:
Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
Note: For external use only. Do not ingest.
Use in moderation as can have a sedating and relaxing effect. Can cause sensitization and should always be diluted accordingly with an appropriate carrier oil.
